In early 2018, Kelly responded to a call for one of 12 sculpture robot effigies for the 2018 Man Base at the annual Burning Man event in Black Rock City, NV. Her proposal for her piece, "Crue Hudol" ( Welsh for "Magical Being") won a grant and the sculpture was placed at the "6 o'clock" side of the Man Pavilion facing the man.
This was Kelly's first grant piece for Burning Man and the first time she sculpted in wood. All of the pieces except for the head were made from wood- mostly from felled logs in her neighborhood. She used hand tools such as a draw knife and power tools like an angle grinder with wood attachments to carve then piece.
